Fix! Text position shifts when stacking Drop Shadow ⚠️

[Fix! Text position shifts when stacking Drop Shadow ⚠️]

When adding a glow effect to text using Essential Graphics in Premiere,

setting the Drop Shadow distance to 0 is a common and effective technique ✨

It’s especially useful because you can apply it at once to multiple text layers with different colors or fonts.

However, a single Drop Shadow often isn’t strong enough,

so many of us stack it two or three times to enhance the glow.

⚠️ Here’s the problem

When you stack Drop Shadow effects, the text position mysteriously shifts toward the bottom-right.

And the more you stack, the worse the offset becomes…

This bug has been known for years,

so editors have traditionally avoided it by using Radial Shadow instead of Drop Shadow.

But with the Premiere 2026 update, the Radial Shadow effect was completely removed.

Now we’re forced to rely on Drop Shadow again — and the bug is still there 😢

After a lot of trial and error,

I’ve found a workaround that avoids this issue with a very high success rate 🔍

Since many users overseas seem to be struggling with the same problem,

I’m sharing this in English as well 🌍

Please feel free to spread the word!

And Adobe…

If you happen to see this post, please consider fixing this bug 🙏

✅ Workaround

In the Essential Graphics panel, add one of the following to the top layer:

🔸 An empty text layer

🔸 A graphic with 0% opacity

👉 That’s it — the text position snaps back to normal!

If you’re using other effects along with Drop Shadow and the offset doesn’t reset:

🔹 Group the text layers

This resolves the issue as well ✨

The exact reason is unclear,

but so far this workaround has worked 100% in my tests.

Please give it a try!

If this still doesn’t work for you, let me know 🙏

I’ll continue testing.
